ABOUT THE ARTIST

Renée Salvat is the artist behind the stationery and illustrated goods that make Salty Kai. She draws her inspiration from nature and the sea, especially since she grew up and lives on the Treasure Coast of Florida. Together with her husband, they began selling their artwork at different pop ups and craft shows throughout Florida in the summer of 2017. In January of 2019 they opened up a small boutique and studio space in Jensen Beach. Then in the fall of 2019, they relocated to a larger space in Downtown Jensen Beach!

It's been a while and oh how life has changed! In the middle of renovating and moving our shop space last year we found out that a little mermaid was on her way to us! She's due any day now and we can't wait to meet her. In the meantime I've been busy in the shop and just recently had time to start creating again. My experiences are what motivate me to create art and I feel like a whole new person already. WE ARE MOVING! This past year has been such an amazing learning experience. The shop has allowed me to learn, make mistakes, have faith and trust and grow as an artist. Because of all of the support we have received I have been able to dream bigger than I could have imagined. We are moving our little shop into a much bigger space in downtown Jensen Beach! I am so excited for all of the growth that is to come. Thank you to each and every person who has supported me in some way shape or form along the way. In order for dreams to come true it takes a community of loving people to lift you up during the process. Thank you friends, I am so grateful. During the radio silence over the past fews months on this account I've been busy working on new stationery that will be released in the new space. I've taken a step back from rushing to create and feeling like I need to play the game of catch up. So as a result I've been able to put together a line of cards that feels so true to me. I will be releasing them soon! Life is a beautiful thing and I've been learning to enjoy it one day at a time while creating a life for myself that brings me joy. It may not all be perfect or well put together but it's slowly getting there. I look forward to sharing this new chapter of my life with you all 💙

We found the mermaid water and it was magical! Yesterday we got to spend the afternoon at the salt flats. I've never seen anything like this, and it was really cool to learn that the pink color of the water comes from the amount of salt in each system and the little tiny organisms that live in them. These systems were actually used by the Taino Indians for the production of salt! . #saltykai #puertoricoalwayssuprisesme #puertorico #saltflats #caborojo #mermaidwater
